Nocturne Noir FAQ

1)    The coffee spirit has a mildly sweet taste, is there any sugar added?
Nocturne Noir has no sugar, flavourings or additives added to it, and the natural sweetness of the spirit is from the cherry-picked Arabica Colombian coffee beans.

2)     What is the shelf life of Nocturne Noir?
When stored in a cellar or a cool, dry place away from sunlight, Nocturne Noir will be good for years, just like any spirit like Whisky or Cognac.

3)     How should I store Nocturne Noir? Do I have to keep it in a wine cooler?
Nocturne Noir should ideally be stored upright in a cellar or wine chiller. Some like to store it in the fridge as the spirit is best enjoyed chilled neat at around 5°C. It is also fine to store the spirit in a cool, dry place and away from Sunlight.

4)     Is there caffeine in Nocturne Noir?
Due to the natural ageing process of the European eau de vie with the Arabica coffee beans, the spirit does contain mild amounts of caffeine. Folks who are highly sensitive to caffeine and are not looking to stay up till late might want to taper off by early evening.

5)     How strong is the spirit?
Nocturne Noir is 76 per cent proof, which should be a reasonably strong drink for most. However, due to the smoothness of the spirit (even when drunk chilled neat), the high alcoholic content may not be immediately apparent (ladies do take note).

7)     What is the best way to enjoy Nocturne Noir?

8)     Why are there coffee beans in the bottle?
The coffee beans illustrate the purity of the ingredients. Apart from this, the coffee beans are naturally preserved in the spirit and would, over time, continue to interact to give more depth, flavour and complexity. 

9)     I see some sediment in the spirit, is this normal?
Due to the unique ageing process, the natural coffee oil and extracts might clump together sometime after bottling. This is normal and does not affect the taste or quality in any way. If this bothers you, do give the bottle a few good hard shakes to dissolve the natural coffee oil clumps and the spirit should look clear again.
